Recruitment & Special Programs > Graduate Scholarship Cohort Program
The Graduate Scholarship Program was created to address the staffing needs in critical shortage areas and to improve the delivery of service to New York City Public School students. The scholarship program provides full tuition payments to eligible students enabling them to obtain New York State certification and to seek a rewarding career in education. This program prepares participants to serve in the areas of Mathematics (grades 7-12), Biology (grades 7-12), Earth Science (grades 7-12), Chemistry (grades 7-12), Physics (grades 7-12), and English as a Second Language (all grades). Candidates accepted into any of these scholarship programs will be placed in a cohort which will allow them to progress through the program together, enabling them to build an internal support system with each other. Upon completion of the program, candidates are required to teach in the New York City Public Schools for a period of four years.
