Jose P. Graduate Scholarship Program For New Teachers and Clinicians
The Jose P. Graduate Scholarship Program offers a full scholarship for selected individuals to pursue a traditional path to New York State teacher certification via a Master's Degree in a specified shortage area of Bilingual or Monolingual Speech-Language Pathology, Blind and Visually Impaired, School Psychology, or Bilingual Special Education. Scholarship recipients must fulfill a service commitment of two (2) years for every paid year or part thereof of study in a high-need New York City public school. To remain eligible for the Jose P. Graduate Scholarship Program, scholarship recipients must take a minimum of eighteen graduate-level credits per year and maintain a 3.0 grade point average to remain eligible for the Jose P. Graduate Scholarship Program.
Western Kentucky University Scholarship Program
This scholarship program is offered in a hybrid, distance education format designed to meet the organizations goal of providing a credential program by which participants can complete a master’s degree online as Teachers of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLDs).
Jose P. Loan Forgiveness Program For New Teachers and Clinicians
The Jose P. Loan Forgiveness Program for pedagogic and clinical titles offers financial grant assistance to certain newly hired New York City Public Schools (NYCPS) employees to repay student loans of up to $24,000. Individuals must remain in an authorized NYCDOE school district for up to six (6) consecutive years to participate in the program. Eligible titles include those who possess New York State certification and NYC Public Schools placement in the following specified shortage areas: Bilingual Special Education Teacher, Bilingual School Psychologist, Teacher of the Blind and Visually Impaired, Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, or Speech-Language Pathologist (monolingual or bilingual).
The Career Training Program (CTP) For Paraprofessionals and Family Workers
The Career Training Program (CTP) provides eligible UFT paraprofessionals with the opportunity to earn a Bachelor’s degree. The program pays tuition for 3 to 6 credits per semester for undergraduate study at participating colleges and universities. Two and a half (2.5) hours per week of release time and a summer stipend are also offered as part of the program to support study.
Bilingual Pupil Services Program For Students Pursuing a Career in Bilingual Education
The Bilingual Pupil Services (BPS) Program is a Title I program within the New York City Public Schools, Division of Human Resources, Office of HR School Support. Its purpose is to prepare and train bilingual paraprofessionals in pursuit of a teaching career to support and serve English Language Learners (ELLs) and Multilingual Learners (MLs) in Title I public elementary/middle schools. The goal is to promote the linguistic and academic progress of these students, whose primary languages are Spanish, Chinese and Haitian Creole, by providing supportive instructional services through the assignment of our BPS teacher interns. It also prepares bilingual paraprofessionals to become bilingual or ENL teachers.
Mayor's Graduate Scholarship Program (MGSP) For Current NYC employees Interested in Pursuing Their Graduate Degree
The Mayor’s Graduate Scholarship Program provides City government employees with the opportunity to continue their education in graduate study. Over the years, hundreds of applicants have been awarded scholarships thanks to the generosity of New York City area colleges and universities. Participating schools offer full or partial scholarships in areas of business and public administration, policy analysis, law, engineering, nursing, public health, computer science, and other profession specific programs to eligible and qualified applicants.

Jose P. Graduate Scholarship Program for Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy
The Jose P. Graduate Scholarship for Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy offers financial assistance to Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy students enrolled in their third, fourth, or graduate year of professional study at participating colleges or universities in New York State Education Department accredited programs for a maximum of two (2) years, specifically the last two (2) years of study in that program, regardless of the length of the applicant's study or program. Scholarship recipients must maintain full-time college or university enrollment. Scholarship recipients must serve within the New York City Public Schools in the field of Occupational Therapy or Physical Therapy for two (2) years for every year the scholarship is awarded or any part thereof. Scholarship recipients must also agree to accept employment as a full-time Occupational Therapist or Physical Therapist within the New York City Public Schools in areas of high need as determined by the program supervisor upon obtaining a New York State license.
Supplementary Bilingual Extension Program For Currently Employed or Newly Hired Teachers and Clinicians
The Supplementary Bilingual Extension Reimbursement Program is designed to address the shortage of bilingual educators and clinicians within the New York City Public Schools. This program assists newly hired participants with the bilingual extension certification process as well as provides tuition reimbursement. Participants must be employed by or in the process of being hired for a position within the NYC public schools system.
